Edith Wharton

Edith Wharton (1862-1937) was an American novelist and designer. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, for The Age of Innocence in 1921. Her other major works include The House of Mirth and Ethan Frome. She was known for her incisive portraits of Gilded Age society.
