Elizabeth Gaskell

Elizabeth Gaskell was a nineteenth-century English novelist and short story writer known for her vivid portrayals of Victorian society. Her major works include North and South, Cranford, and Wives and Daughters, and she also wrote the first biography of her friend Charlotte Brontë.
