Gaston Leroux

Gaston Leroux was a French journalist and author of mystery and detective fiction, best known for The Phantom of the Opera, which has been adapted into one of the longest-running musicals in Broadway history. He also created the locked-room mystery classic The Mystery of the Yellow Room.
