Geoffrey Chaucer

Geoffrey Chaucer was a medieval English poet and author widely considered the father of English literature. His masterwork The Canterbury Tales, a collection of stories told by pilgrims on a journey to Canterbury Cathedral, remains one of the most important works in the English literary canon.
