Mary Karr

Mary Karr is an American poet, essayist, and memoirist. She is best known for her memoirs The Liars' Club, Cherry, and Lit, which chronicle her tumultuous childhood in East Texas and her struggles with alcoholism and faith. The Liars' Club is widely credited with sparking the modern memoir boom of the 1990s. She is a professor of English at Syracuse University.
