Octavia Butler

Octavia Butler (1947-2006) was an American science fiction author and one of the first Black women to gain prominence in the genre. Her works include Kindred, the Parable series, and the Patternist series. She was the first science fiction writer to receive a MacArthur Fellowship and won multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards over her career.
