Colored Television

Jane is a mixed-race novelist and adjunct who has spent a decade on an ambitious book about the history of mixed-race America, house-sitting her way around Los Angeles with her artist husband and two kids. When the novel fails to sell, Jane secretly pivots toward television, pitching a biracial family sitcom to Hampton Ford, a smooth Black producer who treats her as both collaborator and credential. As the deal dangles the middle-class stability she craves, Jane's lies pile up and her family's precarious life starts to buckle.
