Dead Mountain

In February 1959, nine seasoned Russian hikers led by Igor Dyatlov set out across the northern Urals and never returned. Searchers found their tent slashed open from the inside and the bodies scattered downslope, some without shoes or proper clothing, a few with injuries no one could explain. Soviet investigators blamed an unknown natural force and sealed the file. Decades later, filmmaker Donnie Eichar became fixated on the case and traveled to Russia to interview the sole survivor of the wider group, read the hikers' diaries, and retrace their path in winter. Dead Mountain reconstructs the expedition, the search, and Eichar's own investigation, closing with a natural explanation grounded in physics rather than conspiracy.
