Doctor Sleep
Doctor Sleep picks up the story of Danny Torrance, the child at the center of The Shining, decades after the events at the Overlook Hotel. As an adult, Dan has drifted through bad years of drinking before finding work in a hospice in New Hampshire, where his old psychic gift helps patients ease into death. He reaches out by mind across the country to a young girl named Abra, who shares his ability. Together they face the True Knot, a wandering group that feeds on the life force of psychically gifted children. Published in 2013, the novel is at once a horror story, a recovery story, and a sequel that takes seriously what survived from Stephen King's 1977 novel. It was later adapted into a feature film.
