Doll Bones
Zach, Poppy, and Alice are 12-year-old friends in a small Pennsylvania town who have spent years playing an elaborate imaginative game with action figures and a Queen ruled by a bone-china doll Poppy's mother keeps locked in a cabinet. When Zach's father throws away his figures, Zach quits the game, and the three friends are pulled back together when Poppy claims the doll has appeared in her dreams, demanding to be buried in the grave of the girl whose bones were ground into her porcelain. The book follows the three on a real-world overnight bus and river trip to lay the doll to rest.
