Gather
Ian Gray is a resourceful teenager in rural Vermont trying to keep his family's house and land while his mother recovers from opioid addiction. He quits the basketball team, picks up work fixing things for neighbors, makes a few unexpected friends, and adopts a stray dog he names Gather. For a while things look like they might hold together, until a sudden loss sends Ian and the dog on the run from a future that would cost him his home. Told in Ian's wry, watchful first-person voice, the novel is a coming-of-age story about holding on.
