Greenteeth

Jenny Greenteeth is a monster. She has spent centuries at the bottom of her lake, with needle-sharp teeth and a taste for the foolish humans who wander too close, and she has never once spoken to a person in her long life. Then a mob drags a young woman to the water's edge and throws her in, and something in Jenny decides this one is worth saving. Temperance does not know why her village turned on her overnight, only that it has to do with the cold-eyed new pastor and a darkness creeping across the land. Pulled together by circumstance, the monster and the accused witch set out on a slow, magical journey across a Britain where the fae are ancient and dying, where folklore walks the roads, and where the malice threatening Temperance's family and Jenny's lake may reach all the way to the soul of the country. Neither of them planned on company, and neither expected to find a family in the other.
