Labyrinth

In July 2005, near Carcassonne in the French Pyrenees, archaeology volunteer Alice Tanner enters a hidden cave and discovers two ancient skeletons, a stone labyrinth carved on the wall, and a ring inscribed with the same pattern. The discovery pulls her into visions of a past life and a secret she was never meant to find. Eight hundred years earlier, on the eve of the Cathar Crusade that will devastate southern France, a young woman named Alais is given the same ring and a mysterious book by her father, charged with protecting the true secret of the Grail. As the crusading armies gather outside Carcassonne, the two women's stories braid together across the centuries, bound by the symbol of the labyrinth and the sacrifice required to keep the Grail safe.
