Our Wives Under the Sea

Miri thought she had lost her wife Leah for good when Leah's deep-sea submarine failed to resurface on a routine mission. Then Leah comes home, but she is not the same woman who left. Something happened in the dark at the bottom of the ocean, and now the sea seems to be surfacing inside her, changing her skin and her mind and pulling her away by degrees. The novel alternates between Leah's account of the doomed expedition and Miri's account of trying to hold onto a marriage as her wife slowly, quietly transforms into something the ordinary world has no name for.
