Pollyanna

After her father's death, eleven-year-old Pollyanna Whittier is sent to live with her wealthy, severe Aunt Polly in the New England town of Beldingsville. Aunt Polly houses her out of duty, gives her a bare attic room, and expects little joy from the arrangement. But Pollyanna carries the "glad game" her father invented, a habit of finding something to be glad about in every disappointment, and one by one she wins over the servants, a bedridden neighbor, a bitter recluse, and finally the town's most joyless residents. When an accident leaves Pollyanna facing the loss of the very thing that made her game possible, the community she brightened returns her kindness in full.
