Possession
Roland Michell, a struggling literary scholar, finds two unsent draft letters tucked inside a book once owned by the celebrated Victorian poet Randolph Ash. The letters hint at a secret connection to Christabel LaMotte, a lesser-known woman poet of the same era. Roland teams with Maud Bailey, a LaMotte specialist, and together they trace a clandestine love affair through letters, journals, and poems, racing rival academics who want the discovery for themselves. As the Victorian romance comes into focus, the two modern researchers find their own guarded lives bending toward each other.
