The Codex
Maxwell Broadbent, a wealthy collector and tomb-robber dying of cancer, vanishes along with his half-billion-dollar collection of art and antiquities. He leaves his three estranged sons a video message explaining that he has buried himself and everything he owns inside a hidden tomb, Egyptian-pharaoh style, somewhere in the jungles of Central America, and that whoever finds it inherits the fortune. The brothers set off on competing expeditions, joined by an ethnobotanist guide, and discover that among the treasures is an ancient Maya codex containing records of lost medicinal plants. A ruthless pharmaceutical executive wants the codex badly enough to kill for it, turning the inheritance hunt into a deadly race up a single clue trail through hostile rainforest.
