The God of Endings

Collette LeSange was granted immortality by her grandfather in 1834, and centuries later she runs a small art school for children in 1980s upstate New York, hiding her true nature from the families around her. The novel braids her present, where a troubled student and a creeping dread begin to unravel the life she built, with the long history that made her, from a cholera-ravaged village to wars and famines she outlived. Holland writes a vampire less as a monster than as a woman crushed by the weight of watching everyone she loves die, asking whether a life without end is a gift or a sentence.
