The Heaven Tree
In the early thirteenth century along the Welsh Marches, the gifted stone carver Harry Talvace is hired by the proud and powerful Lord Ralf Isambard to build a great church at Parfois. Harry gives everything to the work, but his conscience will not bend, and when he intervenes to save a child from the gallows he sets himself on a collision course with the lord who owns his labor. Isambard brings the courtesan Benedetta with him, unaware she carries an unrequited love for Harry. As the church nears completion, Harry's defiance draws a traitor's sentence, and the story builds to a reckoning between the artist, the lord, and the woman caught between them.
