The Lion Women of Tehran
In 1950s Tehran, seven-year-old Ellie loses her father and her comfortable life, moving with her grieving mother to a small home downtown. On her first day at a new school she meets Homa, a brave and irrepressible girl, and the two become inseparable, dreaming of growing into "lion women" who shape their own fates. When Ellie's mother remarries into wealth, the girls drift apart, then reunite years later as Homa becomes a political firebrand determined to become a judge and win rights for women. As Iran lurches toward the 1979 revolution, one shattering betrayal divides them with consequences that ripple across decades and continents, until a chance at reconciliation arrives in 2022.
