Rosie and Chad Lowan are scraping by in New York City when Chad's late uncle leaves them a luxury apartment in the Windermere, a historic Murray Hill building with prewar elegance and an impeccably uniformed doorman. As they settle in, Rosie starts to wonder why the doorman is always present, why cameras sit in every corner, and why so many violent deaths have happened inside the building over the decades. When people in her orbit begin to die, she turns her suspicion on the doorman and the kindly old couple across the hall. A second timeline following a woman named Willa in 1963 slowly fills in the building's buried history, with nods to Rosemary's Baby and Rear Window.
