The Reading List

Mukesh Patel is a widower in Wembley, lost without his wife and unsure how to reach his book-loving granddaughter. Aleisha is a teenager working a summer job at the failing local library, dreading home and the weight she carries there. When both find the same handwritten reading list tucked inside a returned book, the novels on it, from To Kill a Mockingbird to Beloved, pull them together across a generation. The list spreads through the neighborhood, and the readers it touches form a fragile community right as the library faces closure.
