The Road to Tender Hearts
PJ Halliday, 63 and recently the winner of a $1.5 million lottery, lives alone in Pondville, Massachusetts, weighed down by old griefs. When a young brother and sister, Ollie and Luna, are orphaned and revealed to be PJ's estranged brother's grandchildren, PJ takes them in. He sets off on a cross-country road trip with the kids, his adult daughter, and a cat rumored to predict death, aiming first for Texas to chase down Luna's possible father, a soap-opera actor, and then for Arizona, where his first true love now lives at the Tender Hearts Retirement Community. The trip turns a collection of damaged strangers into a family.
