Eight years after the events of The Folk of the Air, Suren, the runaway child queen of the cruel Court of Teeth, hides in the mortal world, foraging in the woods and freeing humans from their faerie bargains. When the monstrous queen who once raised her hunts her down, she is rescued by Prince Oak, heir to Elfhame, now seventeen and as charming as he is manipulative. Oak needs Suren for a dangerous quest to save his father and stop a rising threat, and the two travel deep into the fae world together.
