Turn of Mind

Dr. Jennifer White was a celebrated orthopedic hand surgeon before early-onset Alzheimer's forced her into retirement. When her lifelong friend and neighbor Amanda is found dead, killed by a blow to the head with four fingers removed by an expert hand, suspicion falls on Jennifer, whose surgical skill and failing memory make her both the likeliest culprit and the least reliable witness. Told entirely from inside Jennifer's deteriorating mind, the novel moves backward, forward, and in circles as she tries to assemble the truth from fragments that keep slipping away. The question that drives the book is whether her shattered memory is concealing what she did or shielding her from a horror she cannot face.
