War for the Oaks
Eddi McCandry has just quit her band and left her boyfriend when she is cornered on a Minneapolis street by a menacing black dog that turns out to be a phouka, a shapeshifting faerie. The Seelie and Unseelie courts are going to war over the city, and their battles can only draw blood if a mortal is present, so the fae have drafted Eddi to be that mortal whether she likes it or not. As she assembles a new band and falls into the strange gravity of the fae world, Eddi has to decide how much of herself she will spend on a war she never chose. Bull grounds the magic in real Minneapolis clubs, parks, and streets, hiding an ancient conflict inside an ordinary city.
