A Heart That Works

Rob Delaney was at the height of his career as the comedian and co-creator of Catastrophe when his second son Henry was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 11 months old. Henry lived another 18 months, through surgeries, treatments, and a tracheostomy, and died at two and a half. A Heart That Works is Delaney's short memoir of the diagnosis, the year of treatments, the death, and the years of grief that followed. The book moves in short reflective chapters that switch between the hospital, his marriage, his other sons, and the comedian's own attempt to keep working through the worst loss a parent can carry.
