The Antipope

Brentford is a sleepy corner of West London where Jim Pooley and John Omally have perfected the art of doing as little as possible, splitting their days between the bookmaker's, the allotments, and endless pints at the Flying Swan. Their routine cracks when a filthy, ageless tramp starts haunting the neighborhood and strange things begin to happen. The tramp is the reanimated Pope Alexander VI, last of the Borgias, and he intends to found a new and unholy dominion with Brentford as his seat. Pooley, Omally, and the ancient scholar Professor Slocombe form the town's only defense, cobbling together a resistance out of pub wisdom, dubious science, and sheer reluctance to have their drinking disturbed.
